‘I grew up in North Caucasus, in the region of constant drain of the population as the post war setting became unbearable. On the other hand, my family was there fleeing from Georgia’s civil war from the 90s. Our town, Nal'chik, placed under the Elbrus Mountain. The Elbrus is dormant volcano. And my whole childhood I admired the majestic peaks of the Caucasus Mountains, praying that Elbrus would not wake up and that people would stop destroying each other.

In 2014, after graduation, I returned to my homeland, Georgia, and fully devoted myself to art as a document of reality.

The contrast of mentalities, religions and social structures I lived in, made a big influence on me as an artist. My art can be perceived as one «addressing actual problems», but it is important for me to capture the timeless contradictions of human nature, as a fragile, helpless, but disastrous being in the same time.

I am a documentary filmmaker, performance artist and painter. My activities are diverse and multifaceted, each area contains improvisation and a performative basis.

Through video documentation and research, my primary focus is on comprehending borderline states of mind and mental crisis. I am interested in the opposition of human and society in the context of separatism, integration and the search for self-identification.
The basis of my method is documenting and analyzing the fluctuations of subjective reality, personal experience, woven into a historical spiral, through painting and filmmaking.

I studied visual art (Design college KBGU, Kabardino-Balkar republic, 2008) and documentary directing (VGIK, Moscow, Russia, 2014). I have been a member of many international residencies and educational programs around of South Caucasus and EU’
